Citroën Launches Affordable All-Electric e-C3 Van for Urban Deliveries

The Citroën e-C3 van, priced from £15,035, offers 200 miles of range, 494kg payload, and is designed for city deliveries. Available in mid-April with first deliveries by late summer.

Citroën to Launch All-Electric e-C3 Van, Targeting Urban Delivery Drivers

Citroën has confirmed plans to introduce a van version of its all-electric e-C3 supermini, aimed at attracting buyers who might have previously considered the now-discontinued Ford Fiesta or Vauxhall Corsa van. By removing VAT and applying the maximum Plug-in Van Grant, the e-C3 van could be priced as low as £15,035, offering a budget-friendly electric option for businesses.

The e-C3 van is set to go on sale in mid-April, with first customer deliveries expected by late summer. It will face minimal competition, with its main rivals being the £14,995 Dacia Spring Cargo and their respective passenger car equivalents. The e-C3 van will sit within Citroën’s range below the E-Berlingo, E-Dispatch, and E-Relay models, but above the compact Ami Cargo.

Unlike the passenger car version, which offers a 33kWh battery option, the e-C3 van will feature only the 44kWh battery, ensuring a range of up to 200 miles—slightly more than the 199 miles offered by the hatchback. The van will have less soundproofing and no rear seats, which contributes to the improved range. The van will maintain the same charging capabilities, with a maximum charge rate of 100kW, enabling a 20 to 80% charge in just 26 minutes. Additionally, a 7.6kWh onboard charger will be included.

Designed for urban deliveries, the e-C3 van boasts a 494kg payload capacity and a load volume of 1.2m². The vehicle will feature a new mesh bulkhead to separate the cabin from the loading bay, and the rear windows will be blanked out for privacy and security.

While trim levels have not yet been announced, it is expected that a base-level ‘Plus’ version will be available. The e-C3 van will retain the passenger car’s 10.25-inch central touchscreen, offering wireless smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with DAB digital radio and Bluetooth.

Powering the e-C3 van will be the same 111bhp motor found in the e-C3 hatchback. This will allow the van to accelerate from 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds, although the top speed will be slightly reduced to 82mph.

With its blend of practicality, efficiency, and affordability, the Citroën e-C3 van is set to become a strong contender in the electric van market, especially for businesses seeking an eco-friendly option for city deliveries.
